I'm Benjamin Cahoon

I've been working with ceramics since I was 15 years old. I’m all about creating custom ceramic installations, carved sculptures, and pieces inspired by plants and animals.

Discover your...
Pottery Style!

Every potter approaches clay differently. Some are inspired by organic forms and nature, while others love craftsmanship, texture, or experimentation. This quick quiz will help you discover your creative pottery personality and the handbuilding style that feels most natural to you.

Handbuilding pottery both big and small

We’ll start from scratch and build up together or build upon existing experience to bring you to the next level.

You’ll learn all the basics of handbuilding with clay through fun and important techniques like pinch pots, slab mugs and boxes, coils, textures, underglazes, and more. By the end, you’ll have made a bunch of pieces, picked up skills you can use again and again, and had a ton of fun in the process.

Pottery isn’t about rushing or making everything perfect, it’s about getting your hands dirty, experimenting, and really enjoying the process.

At the end of the course you will be able to:

Understand Clay

Learn how clay behaves from start to finish, including shaping, joining, drying, and fixing common issues so you can work with confidence at every stage.

Make it Functional

Create mugs, bowls, boxes, and more using pinch, slab, coil, and extrusion techniques while building pieces that are both beautiful and practical.

Texturize and Glaze

Explore surface design through textures, underglazes, and glazing techniques to add color, character, and a personal touch to every piece you make.

Hi, I am Benjamin!

I got hooked on making ceramics back in high school at 15 and started working in a professional studio not long after. Since then, I’ve been all about creating custom ceramic installations, carved sculptures, and pieces inspired by plants and animals.

I LOVE teaching ceramics and helping artists at any level get inspired to create things they didn't think possible.

When I’m not in the studio, I work as a marketing director, mixing strategy with a bit of creativity.

My style is all about exploring, having fun, and finding joy in the process because making art should feel exciting, not intimidating!

With my course, I will help make handbuilding ceramics fun, easy, and beginner-friendly. Join the waiting list and get working with clay!
